NEWS RELEASE SUMMARY -February 12, 2007
United States Attorney Carol C. Lam announced that today CRAIG CONRAD MCCOLLOM pled guilty in federal district court in San Diego to making a false bomb threat towards the Juneau, Alaska Police Department, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 844(e).
In connection with his guilty plea before United States District Court Judge M. James Lorenz, McCollom admitted that on January 31, 2006 at 12:54 a.m., he called the Juneau Police Department and told the dispatcher that there was a bomb outside her location. He further admitted that he knew the information was false.
Federal law enforcement authorities were subsequently able to identify and locate McCollom in Escondido, California. Authorities later learned that Escondido Police Department had received similar threatening calls in and around the same time period relating to other bomb threats.
Sentencing is scheduled for May 7, 2007, at 9:00 a.m., before United States District Court Judge M. James Lorenz.
