Bank Robber Sentenced to
70 Months in Federal Custody
United States Attorney Karen P. Hewitt
announced that John Gordon Mastro was sentenced today
in federal court in San Diego by United States District
Court Judge Barry Ted Moskowitz to serve 70 months
in custody and to pay $3,448.00 restitution. Mastro
entered his guilty plea on December 11, 2007.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney
Dale Blankenship, who prosecuted the case, Mastro admitted
to robbing Citibank, N.A., at 2995 Clairemont Drive,
San Diego, California, on August 20, 2007 and obtaining
$3,448.00. Mastro also admitted to robbing Washington
Mutual Bank at 6116 Mission Gorge Road, San Diego,
California, on August 22, 2007 and obtaining $3,776.
Mastro was apprehended by the San Diego Police Department
shortly after he left the Washington Mutual Bank.
U.S. Attorney Hewitt praised the efforts
of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the San
Diego Police Department in bringing this case to a
successful conclusion.
